Stephen Donald Photos - School Visit Jan 2014

Stephen Donald was at the school in the late 50's to summer 1962. He recently visted the Pioneer centre as the school is now called, meeting up with Tony Booton at the school and visiting Mick and Judith Chopping in Cleobury Mortimer. Here are his photographs of the visit -

End of Dudley House

Inside the new Pioneer centre on what was the top field in our time.

The old Class room block with Tony Booton in the foreground.

Stephen Donald The 3 old classroom blocks, one on the left at the end was MR Oxendales class.

Michael Billings My classroom started in the room which became the science room (next to the swimming pool) with Mr Lowe. Then moved to the classroom with the veranda in the photo (Mr Ridley and finally in the far classroom with Mr Clarke (English). Remember it as if it was yesterday.

Trev Teasdel From September 1962 - class room on the right was DA Williams classroom for Divinity and English. By 1965 it was used also by Mr Hudson for German. On the left end Geography with Mr Powell and at times English and History.

Stephen Donald Dudley house dorm taken from where the ablution block used to be. The middle steps and doors were the original entrance for the lads.

Mick Gajic I enjoyed it, my bunk was just inside the door in the centre of the dorm, because I had a wardrobe and it was kept by the center wall, mine was top bunk

Michael Billings I was in Dudley House too and my bed was approx. by the third of the single windows (Bottom Bunk). I was there 1954-1958. Mr Oxendale was our House Master who's room was at the far end of the picture on the right and Mr Webb then Mr Tinsella (Gym Teacher) was in the end nearest to the picture being taken. My friends were John Richardson and Trevor Hancox. Do you remember them?

Stephen Donald No Michael I arrived in 1957 so I would be at the other end of the dorm from you, my bed was when I started was at the far end of this dorm from where I took the picture I was on top bunk Pete Wood was on bottom bunk.

Interior of the old staff room as it is now.

Stage inside the Assembly hall as it is now.

This building was variously to house some of the maids from the canteen or a Mr Lovatt's RE  / Music classes pre 1960, before the new class room was built along the path to the heads cottage. Early 60's the  the old library /  Hoss's living quarters and seamstress office were housed there. No sure of its usage after the new library was built as part of the new school blocks c 1966.

Inside the original Mortimer Dorm as it is now - gone are the bunks of the earlier times and the single bed arangements made after the Seniors moved into the new block. now it has private rooms as part of the Pioneer Centre.

new swimming pool - same location as the old.

TD room - RE classroom over by the trees has gone though.

Stephen Donald and Rosemary Webb remembered there was a cricket pavillion on the lower field near where you climb the style back from a cross country run. It wasn't the in 1953 apparently and was gone by 1962 but stephen remembers it was hit by lightening in 1960, so was probably pulled down. Anyone else remember anything about that or even better have a photograph of it?
